Israelite House of David - South Depot with "Stream-lined" Train
South Depot with "Stream-lined" Train
During the 1930s there was a movement in transportation to "streamline" designs. The result was a shift from the boxy forms of the past towards curves and angles. The House of David made a nod to this design trend by encasing one of the original locomotives in a streamlined shell. The locomotive, renamed "Hiathawa" is seen here pulling into the South Depot in the early 1940s.
