Israelite House of David - House of David Foundry
In the early years the House of David operated a foundry. Here they cast many different articles used at the colony including parts for the miniature trains. Along with articles such as stove parts and manhole covers the colonists cast parts for the trains including fire box grates, cylinders, pistons, wheels and smoke box rings. The man at the far left in this foundry picture is John Tucker the famous House of David baseball player. In this egalitarian society even well known members worked at less glamorous jobs for the good of all. Industry was encouraged and during seasonal work peaks on the farms colony sports figures, musicians and leaders could be found side by side with the rank a file members in the fields.
